Christine snaps up hot property
CHRISTINE Timms stuck her hand in the air one last time as the bidding reached $215,000.
It was her first time at an auction and her heart was pumping. "I was so nervous because everything seemed to happen so quickly," said Christine, who was one of about 70 at Ray White Rockhampton City's auction at Rockhampton Travelodge.
But she left with a huge smile and an investment unit in Thurston Street for a price she was "very pleased with". "I think I got a bargain, said Christine... and she wasnt the only one.
Jade Carr, principal at the real estate agents, said the auction was the first he'd been associated with to achieve 100% success. "Six properties were offered and all six were sold and there was spirited bidding on all of them," said Jade. Four of the six were bought by people who would be owner occupiers, two as investments. Prices achieved ranged from $205,000 to $319,000. And all sold for close to their reserve price.
"We marketed the properties heavily in the weeks leading up to the auction", said Jade. He thought the result showed there was still a high level of confidence in the Rockhampton housing market.
Only one of the successful bidders was from out of town. The properties were in Thurston Street, Kent Street, Connor Street, Burnett Street and Moyle Street.
